Initial Consultation and Examination

Before you begin your specific Upper Cervical program Dr. Tonnies must first learn more about you and determine if you are a good candidate for this type of care. This visit includes...

  • Full health history and consultation

  • Neurological examination

  • Physical/bio-mechanical examination

  • Referral for x-ray examination (if necessary)

In addition, we will take this time to fully explain Upper Cervical care and how it may help your situation. The initial consultation will be roughly 60 minutes long and the fee is $150.

Phase 1 - Reset

During the first phase of your care the main focus is on breaking your system out of its old habits and beginning to stabilize your spine and nervous system. Here Dr. Tonnies will use specific upper cervical adjustments and soft tissue/muscle work to work through the chronic degenerative changes and habits to stabilize the system and relieve your acute symptoms. During this time we will see you more frequently, roughly 2x per week for 2-3 weeks, depending on the severity of your case.

Phase 2 - Rebuild

During this phase you should be feeling better and you should be holding your correction for a longer period of time. Now that your spine and nervous system are significantly more stable we can begin to focus on rebuilding the system. Here you will have a more active roll as Dr. Tonnies will introduce you to rehab activities and begin digging deeper into your overall health. lifestyle, and nutrition.

In addition to maintaining your correction and soft tissue/muscle work you will now be given more exercises and stretches to help retrain your body to function properly. During this phase your appointments will be less frequent ranging form 1x per week to 1x per month, depending on the severity of your case.

Phase 3 - Optimize

In this phase we are focused on maintaining your upper cervical correction and continuing to support your system. At this point you should be feeling significantly better and therefore should not need to be seen as frequently as you have previously. In addition to maintaining your new found health we will dive deeper into your lifestyle, accessing your organ function, diet, and any other aspect of your life that may be affecting your health. During this phase you will be seen monthly to every few months depending on how well you hold your correction.
